We asked Lori to share her journey. Our staff has been so inspired by her grit to keep clawing and fighting toward her personal goals! She represents a community of remarkable fighters and we hope she inspires someone else who has tried challenges or weight loss programs in the past but never saw the results they wanted. Don't stop working toward that better you, Lori didn't:)

I've proudly been part of the CrossFit Durable family for the past two years. My journey here has been a dynamic one, allowing me to combine my passion for weight training with a newfound love for high-intensity workouts. CrossFit has been the perfect intersection where I can get my cardio in while genuinely enjoying the process.

Throughout my time as a member, I participated in all the weight loss challenges offered by the gym. In my first year, I achieved success by shedding 10 pounds, but unfortunately, I'd often regain the weight after a period. It seemed like a familiar cycle, something I was quite good at – losing and gaining the same 10 pounds. However, as I grew older, the battle with weight became more challenging, attributing it to age and hormonal changes. I didn't think weightloss was possible. I teetered on the brink of giving up and accepting my new reality. But I refused to settle and CFD always offered me an opportunity to try again.

While I was undoubtedly fit, I wasn't content with being overweight. I envisioned a future where I'd stay active and fit for as long as possible, which fueled my decision to dive into the next weight loss challenge. The journey began in the first week without much change on the scale, even though I was following the plan diligently. That's when Coach Stephanie suggested I explore intermittent fasting, and it turned out to be a game-changer.

As the pounds started to melt away consistently, it did wonders for my mental state. I felt healthier, looked better in my clothes, and received compliments from people who noticed the transformation. The first month was characterized by an exceptionally strict diet – no alcohol, no sugar, and a focus on clean eating. However, I soon discovered balance was essential to maintaining this change in the long run. I realized that as long as the majority of what I consumed was healthy, I could still have the things I loved. This was a breakthrough because I had a history of rigid weekdays followed by indulgent weekends when trying to lose weight.

Intermittent fasting not only regulated my calorie intake but also improved my relationship with food. It prevented overindulgence and reinforced portion control. Before embarking on this journey, I had hoped to shed my typical 10 pounds, never expecting that it would evolve from a mere diet into a transformative lifestyle. I was surprised to find that I didn't feel like I was missing out or trying too hard. Ten months later, I've lost 34 pounds and have no intention of going back to my old habits.

Today, intermittent fasting remains a part of my routine, though I've learned to listen to my body. If it craves a morning meal, I oblige. My eating choices are now more in tune with my body's needs. I've embraced the idea that carbs are not the enemy, and I've experienced an increase in energy and self-confidence. My workouts continue to be intense, even while fasting.

CrossFit Durable has played an essential role in my transformation. It's not easy to pinpoint what makes the workouts so addicting. It could be the challenge of competing against the clock, the constant drive to beat personal records, or the friendly competition among fellow athletes. The added challenges and events organized by Scott have become a vital part of my journey and makes it a testament to the gym's motivating environment. When Scott initially suggested setting a 90-day goal, I couldn't help but wonder what the catch was. Was he really offering this to us for free? However, it turned out to be a genuine desire to see us succeed. The dedication and passion of the coaches are truly inspiring. I want to express my gratitude to CrossFit Durable for helping me reach this point. It's not the end of the road but a continuous journey towards a healthier and happier me. Okay, maybe it's a bit corny, but it's the truth!"
