Scott McAlee
Owner
I’ve been coaching since graduating college in 2006 and have had the privilege of working with just about every type of athlete and individual imaginable – from 7-year-old gymnasts and Division I athletes to weight loss clients, rehab patients, and grandparents. There’s nothing more rewarding than watching someone accomplish something they once thought was impossible.
I grew up playing sports and went on to play collegiate lacrosse, which taught me the value of discipline, teamwork, and competition. I believe that through competition – whether with yourself or others – you discover a stronger version of who you are.
These days, I still love to play, but my greatest joy comes from coaching my two sons, Ashton and Landon.
Turning Point
My story isn’t one of dramatic weight loss or poor nutrition, but I do know what it means to face something that takes control of your life. In 2014, after being overprescribed opioid medication for a herniated disc, I found myself battling addiction for nearly two years. That period forced me into deep reflection and ultimately became one of the most defining experiences of my life.
We all face challenges – whether it’s addiction, injury, loss, or simply trying to conquer your first pull-up – and I’ve learned that the power of a support system can make all the difference. T.E.A.M: Together Everyone Achieves More. We got this.
Motivation & Passion
I lost my father to cardiac arrest when I was just 13 years old. He was in his early 50s and far too young. That loss shaped my life’s mission – to help others live longer, healthier, more active lives.
I’m passionate about teaching the importance of eating whole foods, moving daily, and building habits that support longevity and vitality. Every person who walks through our doors has a chance to change the trajectory of their life – for themselves, their family, and their future.
That’s what drives me to show up and coach every day.

Alyssa Walker
I have been a competitive equestrian since the age of 7. I spent some time in gymnastics, but nothing teaches you patience, hard work, and resilience like learning to communicate with a 1,000lb animal with the strength in your legs.
Turning Point
I have a wonderful family, but I did not grow up in a household environment where personal health and fitness were a priority.. at all. The unfortunate reality hit when my father became terminally ill when I was a teenager. I realized that the difference between a healthy, happy life and a miserable, sick one was actually much more in your hands than I believed.
I brushed past the self-doubt narrative in my head saying “You were never an endurance or strength athlete growing up, you won’t be any good at this.” and stepped into a gym. From then on the narrative changed from “taking care of my health is a chore” to “taking care of my health is a duty and something I owe to myself, and the people in my life. It is not an option.”
Motivation & Passion
I wholeheartedly believe that my purpose for coaching is to help people change that negative internal narrative and ignite their passion for discovering how great their lives can be. Over time, a huge passion of mine has become weightlifting, and I love coaching athletes who are relentless in the pursuit of their strength gains; physically and mentally.
One of my greatest joys in life has been seeing the visceral change in an athlete when they accomplish a feat they never thought possible for them.
Kristine Yesnowski
My journey with CrossFit started in Rhode Island in 2009. I had two small children, just turned 40, and needed to get back into shape.
It was then that I joined a small gym and saw a handful of members doing totally different movements in the gym’s small back room. Barbells, boxes, sledgehammers, tires… My interest was piqued. The gym owner said they were trying this “new” class called CrossFit.
I instantly became hooked on the excitement, intensity, and determination that each CrossFit workout brought. I love that it gives me new ways to challenge myself every day.
Jake Walker
I joined my local volunteer fire department when I was 14 years old, and have been volunteering for over 12 years now. I currently serve as a Captain with The Plains Volunteer Fire Company.
I enlisted in the Virginia Army National Guard in 2014 as an Infantryman and have had the opportunity to serve in many different roles. These experiences have given me the discipline to stay consistent with showing up and working out. It’s also given me the mental strength to push through tough situations, knowing they won’t last forever.
Turning Point
I decided to start taking my fitness seriously when I was falling behind in PT tests for the Army. I was always able to maintain passing scores without much dedication, but as I got older I was no longer able to pass unless I prepared for weeks ahead of time.
I wanted to be better at my job and get higher scores, so I joined my wife at our local CrossFit gym and I have been consistent ever since.
Motivation & Passion
During my time in the military, I’ve had many examples of good and bad leaders. I use that experience to be the best leader I can be while coaching my classes.
I like to bring a mixture of fun, motivation, and compassion, while also not allowing excuses or distractions.

About Coach
I’ve been coaching CrossFit for three years, but my passion for fitness and leadership began in the U.S. Army, where I served 15 years leading physical training and developing Soldiers’ strength, endurance, and resilience. That experience taught me how to motivate, build teamwork, and hold people accountable. Coaching CrossFit is a natural continuation of that mission, helping others unlock their physical and mental potential through discipline, effort, and community.
Coaching Philosophy
I believe in challenging yourself. Don’t just accept the cards you’re dealt ,shuffle the deck and find a way to make it happen.
Motivation & Passion
My wife and I are foster parents, and I make it a goal to bring every child in our care to a workout. There’s nothing more rewarding than watching a kid, whether they’re part of our foster family or just part of the community, discover their strength, master a new skill, or give their all during a workout. Every child deserves the chance to feel strong, confident, and unstoppable. Kids are truly limitless and fearless when given the opportunity to move, learn, and grow.

About Coach:
It wasn’t until after college that I really started taking my health and fitness seriously. Growing up, I played recreational sports but rarely stepped foot in a gym. That changed in 2013 when I discovered CrossFit, and I haven’t looked back since. Over the years, I’ve grown to love the grind, the community, and the constant pursuit of progress that CrossFit embodies.
In 2018, that passion led me to start coaching. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of athletes through CrossFit classes, Olympic weightlifting, and personal training. My goal as a coach is to help others challenge themselves, move better, and find the same fulfillment in fitness that I did.
Coaching Philosophy:
While I believe that finding any way to move and stay fit is great, CrossFit provides an incredible environment to improve. I often tell athletes that 90% of the battle is just getting yourself to the gym, and from there we’ll guide you the rest of the way.
Whether your goal is to compete at a high level or simply carry the groceries in from the car with ease, CrossFit brings people from all different backgrounds together to work hard, support each other, and get better every day.
Motivation & Passion:
When I first started CrossFit, I never believed I’d make the kind of progress I’ve been able to achieve. It’s an amazing feeling to be able to pass that on to others and help them not only reach their goals, but exceed them as well.
For my own motivation as an athlete, the strong community aspect of CrossFit is a huge part of what keeps me coming back. The shared energy, support, and drive from everyone in the gym continue to push me to grow and stay consistent.

About Coach:
A fairly new coach, I started coaching at Durable in 2025. My athletic background is varied – I tried many sports growing up, but found my passion for rowing in college, which earned multiple championships. After having two children, I turned to running for its flexibility and went on to complete five marathons. My passions for rowing and running came together in 2010 when I discovered CrossFit, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
Coaching Philosophy:
As a Master’s athlete, I believe lifting heavy, moving well and training with some degree of intensity are fundamental to living a long, healthy life.
Motivation & Passion:
In coaching CrossFit, I’m passionate about helping people – especially those in the 40+ community – discover their strength and confidence. Whether it’s lifting heavier or touching a barbell for the first time, I love watching athletes realize what they’re capable of.
